IET BETNET Continue to Enjoy a Successful Partnership

News : July 31, 2008

Connectix are pleased to announce the success of the Data Centre Design seminar in association with the IET at the Lighthouse, Glasgow.

The Lighthouse was opened in July 1999, by HM Queen Elizabeth II, after a 13 million pound conversion, which transformed Charles Rennie Mackintosh's derelict building.

Built in 1895 the last owner was the Glasgow Herald newspaper office, it is now transformed into Scotland's first, dedicated, national centre for architecture and design. The Lighthouse nurtures, champions and promotes them further, bringing world-class thinking and projects to the UK. They achieve this through a diverse range of exhibitions and publications.

Thirty six engineers and designers joined Connectix Ltd from all over Scotland, and a few hardy soles from further a field, including the IET BETNET Deputy Chairman Cameron Steel.

Cameron Steel commented, "BETNET is the Built Environment Technologies Technical & Professional Network. Part of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, it is one of many such TPNs providing technical information and networking opportunities for industry professionals. As a charitable organisation, the success of our delivery is dependent on the activities of volunteers and staff and, increasingly, on collaboration with outside parties.

Since 2006 BETNET have enjoyed a very successful partnership with Connectix, who have provided generous support with sponsorship of the 'Data Centre Design Seminars', which covers engineering principles for Mechanical and Electrical Engineers. These events have always proved popular and well attended. The recent event in Glasgow, with 36 attendees from across the industry, plus record bookings for the forthcoming events in the autumn in Wigan and Reading demonstrated that M&E issues surrounding Data Centres continue to be a hot topic. Connectix are also providing an additional event in London at the home of the IET, Savoy Place, in October.

Interest in these seminars has come quite literally from across the world, which has assisted BETNET in its global mission. BETNET is grateful of its continuing association with Connectix and looks forward to a new season of events in 2009."

The feedback forms repeated Cameron's enthusiasm and support for the Data Centre Design Seminars:

Garry Scott of Ramboll Whitby Bird, "Excellent seminar."

Jack Plumb of TPS Consulting, "Many thanks for supporting the industry in this way."

David Johnson of BT, "Very enjoyable and a good learning experience."

Nikolaos Anagnostou of SGURR Energy, "Excellent presentation. Keep up the good work."

David Black of Clydebank College, "Very informative presentations."

Connectix has planned three more events for 2008 at JJB Wigan, IET HQ London and Madjeski Reading with over 200 engineers registered. To find out more please visit our Events page.
