Net 10G

Net 10G

Why  Net 10G?

While 10 Gigabit applications are not common in the market today, IT managers and building designers want to specify a cabling system that will support the bandwidth-hungry 10 Gigabit applications of the future. With 10 Gigabit switch-to-switch links becoming ever more common in today’s advanced data centres, specifying Net 10G makes even more sense.

Network infrastructure installations in hi-tech buildings today represent a long term investment. The increased use of data intensive applications that demand more bandwidth with increased reliability has driven Ethernet to a new generation. Net 10G has been designed to provide maximum protection against advancements in the IT industry. 10 Gigabit capacity with minimal increase in investment guarantees Net 10G’s competitive edge.

Combining the Optix fibre portfolio of multimode OM3 and singlemode OS1 products, along with the fully shielded copper range; Net 10G can offer the ideal, reliable 10 Gigabit Ethernet solution from 10 metres to 40 kilometres.

Fibre Systems

For over 10 years Connectix has been at the forefront of providing fibre optic solutions to the communications market. Having one of the largest termination facilities in the UK, fibre has always been a core part of Connectix' business.

The Optix range of fibre products has developed into one of the most comprehensive and widely respected fibre solutions available.

There are a number of options for 10 Gigabit Ethernet transmission over fibre, using either multimode or singlemode cables. Transmission distances vary depending on the choice of fibre and wavelength; with distances of up to 40 km achievable using high grade singlemode fibre.

Since 2002 optical fibre selection has been made much easier by ISO/IEC and CENELEC adopting a simplified nomenclature for optical fibre. The next generation of American cabling standards (i.e. TIA/EIA 568-C) also looks likely to adopt this convention. The naming method identifies three multimode fibres known as OM1, OM2 and OM3, and one singlemode fibre known as OS1. It then comes down to a case of selecting the correct fibre according to the speed and distance expectations
